The Tale of Moby

Updated: May 31, 2020

May 16, 2017 – Siena, Italy “Moby”

If you’ve read some of my earlier posts, I’m sure you’ve seen me make reference to Moby Dick – Melville’s classic white whale. This is what we have lovingly come to call Carolyn’s suitcase. One of the most received comments I’ve receive from all my blog posts so far is that I post a picture of Moby. Everyone is wanting to know what it looks like.

Well, here it is. Perhaps not as bad as some of you may have come to think based on my writing. However, you must remember that 5 months ago when we all spoke about taking this trip we discussed taking one small roll-aboard so that we could travel light. We were going to heed the sage advice of Rick Steves and make our ambitious cross Europe jaunt easy on ourselves. As you can see from the photo that My suitcase on the far left is the only one that could fit into an overhead bin. So, clearly my travel companions all think that Mr. Steves just doesn’t understand what it really takes to spend 3 weeks in Europe.

Oh Well, we are managing.
